       Camp Pearl

Camp Pearl was established in 1947,  solely for the purpose of introducing individuals, targeting the youth, to Jesus Christ in an enjoyable natural setting.

William Seth Baggett had a dream. He wanted to have a Bible camp for youth in the Reeves LA area. His dream included a desire for the camp to be a haven for missionaries home on furlough; to have a base place to live, relax, and from which to work.

This dream came reality when 15 acres of land was donated by Lee Green to be used for the camp. Many people assisted in developing his dream by donating many hours of hard labor clearing the land, described as a pine wilderness with briar patches higher than a tall man.

Members of our church regularly donate time, labor, materials, and funds to build the ministry of Camp Pearl. Don Barrett is the current administrator. He can be reached at the following email address DBarrettCP@aol.com or the physical address listed below.

Kirk and Yolanda Rogers

Kirk and Yolanda Rogers have been laboring to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the indigenous people of  Guinea West Africa. These people are called the Landamou people. Their work has led them and their five children to live in a primitive tribal area.

With their co-workers they are spending their time learning the language, translating scripture, teaching literacy, and living a godly life before their predominately Muslim neighbors. The Rogers work with the New Tribes Mission agency. Great things are happening! Missionaries in some tribes are now fluent enough in the tribal language and culture to begin teaching God’s Word. There are new believeres among the Susu/Nalu, the Tanda and the Landuma people. Missionaries in these three tribes are translating the Word, and discipling new believers with the hope of establishing these young churches. In another tribe, missionaries are beginning language study. There are six more people groups in view as soon as God sends the laborers.

They are sponsored by the a Baptist Church in Sulphur LA. You can reach the Rogers at Kirk_Rogers@NTM.org

Mission History
TWR was founded by Dr. Paul E. Freed in 1952 as a nonprofit organization to proclaim the unchanging message of the Gospel. The first broadcast was aired more than 50 years ago from a 2,500-watt transmitter in Tangier, Morocco, in February 1954.

Young Life, which began in 1941, is a non-profit organization committed to making an impact on kids' lives and preparing them for the future. Young Life leaders leave the comfort of their adult worlds and enter the arena of high school and middle school life. You will find Young Life leaders sitting in the stands at football games, walking the streets of inner-city neighborhoods, driving carloads of kids to the shopping malls or tutoring students in study centers after school. In fact, you will find them almost anywhere you can find kids. Young Life leaders model trust, respect and responsibility to their young friends, and they do it within a meaningful context, within the context of a teenager's world.
